Long before the world discovered a ride, the maps were common only in rich homes. Ordinary people rarely had the means to afford these amazing companies of the map to do, because they were the only possessions of powerful kings, brave sailors and diligent researchers.

Even before the ancient explorers returned to the news from distant lands, these cartographers often surprisingly accurate predictions about what was more of a beach. Using the reports of seafarers around the places visited and measures as part of the coastline looks as if it were mapping satellites.

Few can argue, however, that 17th century cartographers is not only a skilled cartographers, artists were also wonderful. Furthermore, to create accurate maps, often got their work with seafood, sailing ships and even the mythical gods. More than an accurate representation of the shapes of the world, maps of these works of art to fashion.

Some famous world map tapestries

If you're a detection ancient, you're familiar with the world map tapestries Dutch cartographer Henricus Hondius. His 'Totius Terrarum Orbis Tabula Nova Geographica ac Hydrographic' was a milestone in the construction of maps. The Geography of the Capital of the United Kingdom

London, England - The Geography of the Capital of the United Kingdom

London is in the southeast of England, 45 miles west of the Thames, and covers an area of 1579 square kilometers. That places the city as one of the largest cities in the world. The altitude ranges from sea level to 245 m in Biggin Hill.
The river crosses the city from west to east, has had a great influence on the development of the city. London was founded on the north bank of the river and has been for several centuries, a single bridge, London Bridge. The main objective of the city has a limitation on the Thames, to the construction of a number of other bridges in the eighteenth century. The city expanded in all directions after this expansion has been hampered by many natural obstacles.

Thames was once wider and shallower than today. The banks of the river have improved greatly, most of the tributaries have been diverted and now are underground, sometimes turned into sewers. Thames is tidal and subject to London is largely flood. Threat of floods have also increased over time, given the steady rise in water level during the high tide and the inclination to reduce Britain (raised in the north, lower in the south) caused by isostatic rebound. A dam, the Thames Barrier, built over the River Thames in Woolwich in the 1970s, to overcome this threat. In 2005, however, has proposed building a dam with less than fifteen miles downstream, to avoid future risks of flooding.

Geography and the Internet - remote development teams

Contributing Internet has changed the world forever. Although the dot-bomb bubble busting crazy ideas is now in real life. Telecommuting is a reality for many people, and the use of the Internet, we can show to see, speak and listen, let alone read and write. Outsourcing is growing day by day, because the economy tilted to help the third world countries to provide high technology services, remote access at an affordable price.

There are many challenges with remote services, especially when it comes to software and web development. By far the biggest long term problem for people working from home is a serious lack of culture. Many people initially thought they scored big-time with their first labor contract at home, finally threw in the towel. You need other like minded people around you constantly feel alive and grow as a person. The interaction is a must.

From the perspective of project management, there are problems of control for managing large remote workers. It is much more difficult to handle someone who is not physically there to observe and interact with. In addition to what is usually a melting pot to cope with distributed teams: the people of Texas do not think like people in India who think differently to people in Russia, etc. Not to mention the nightmare of timezones. teams spread throughout the U.S. (A country) have significant challenges trying to schedule a meeting for two hours so as not to interfere with working hours of a person.

Of course there are many more advantages that the Internet has given us in the spas can work remotely and collaborate virtually. You can now have cheaper developers from various countries, and many outsourcing companies to adjust their schedule to meet the needs of its customers. This means your team is in India, working all night, but for North America, which is barely noticeable.

We have an excellent telecommunications solutions for today, which allows us to collaborate, such as voice over long distances by the excellent quality and low costs. Built many of these applications are now in a presentation of web-based virtual systems, which allow you to view a presentation of work through an interactive website, etc. - to share all the team, and all in real time.

Ultimately, the choice is yours, what you outsource services to remote teams, and you insist on local talent. In software projects and web development projects, your geography grows as your needs are more specific and detailed. The better your specifications, the better your chance of a local team, as you would with less of your own participation in the process.

Geography of India

Separated by the mighty Himalayas of China, Tibet and the rest of Asia, the geography of India is certainly one of the most impressive of all countries. The land mass is immediately recognizable on any world map because of the nature o projecting deep into the Indian Ocean. It is surrounded by more than 4,671 miles of coastline, east of the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean to the south and west by the Arabian Sea. In the northern borders of China, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan along with more than 9,445 miles of land border.

The continent is divided into 28 different states, which like magic between them represent all types of landscape, climate and cultural diversification can imagine. Follow the link at the bottom of page for more information.

You can find much more information and images by following the link at the bottom of this page.

The North:
The geography of India in the north of the Himalayas, which contrasts perfectly with the northern plain, which extends into the upper part of India. The great plain, as it is called, goes all the way to Delhi Bay of Bengal to the West gate of the Ganges with her. Surprisingly down the slope over this vast area (about 1000 miles), is a 198 small meters.

The South:
Like the great plain from north to south, it begins to go into a plateau called the Deccan. Geography of India in the West is somewhat different from the rest of India. The West includes the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and part of the great central state of Nadya prude. The land along the coast is generally abundant in the southern tropical forests to reach all the way from Bombay to Goa.

How to Teach Geography - Making it Fun

If you are a teacher or a parent, it is much easier to teach children geography please. Here are five ways to achieve this:

1. Play Board and Card Games
There are very many games available that are tied to geography. Card games, such as Border Line series ideal for teaching students the relative position of places. Mindware Brainbox geography has two games - one of world geography and a geography of the United States. Both players will have to explore, or pictorial evidence to the State and then answer questions based on what I remember. This game can be repeated several children at the same time and in my geography class loved it!

2. Play CD Rom and Online Games
Kids love computer games - then an ideal way to fit in learning without even realizing it. Carmen Sandiego The "Where in the World" and If, in the United States games were great favorites of my own children when they were younger. They learned about the places in the world without feeling like they were learning. And of course, you can find a multitude of online games to challenge players of all levels of knowledge of geography. My family loves Sporcle site, but if they are too hard, there are many others to choose.

3. Watch Movies
It is an excellent DVD set specially designed for children entitled Families of the World. In each DVD for families in the country visited - one of the city and one in the country. History is made from a point of view of one of the children in the family so that children can easily relate what they see.

You can also search for films with children in other countries. My daughter and I saw young children of the sky tells of a boy and a girl in Iran, which are divided into shoes - and gave an excellent view of another culture.

4. Devise your own Geography Games
I made a series of games suitable for what I'm trying to teach. Draw a large world map on paper, attach to the wall and play "Pin" the continent by air. Geography or a taboo, geography Pictionary, Geography or Geography Jeopardy charades. You can customize your questions to fit your teaching education.

5. Communicate with children in other countries
In the distance, the scene became more real for children if they know someone living there. Find relevant and able to communicate by letter, email, Skype or Facebook, even if they are older. Another option is to enroll in the program that organizes the exchange Postcrossing postcards from people around the world. Once you receive a postcard, you can put a pin in a wall map to show where it comes from.
